Name: Tyler Hilton
Where You've Seen Him: His debut album, The Tracks Of, comes out on June 15, so unless you've been to the Palm Springs, CA, clubs and coffeehouses he's been playing at since grade school, you're probably seeing him for the first time here. You're welcome.
Why We Picked Him: Tyler, 20, is a self-taught guitar player and acoustic-rock singer-songwriter. His songs are generally about three things: traveling, love, and traveling while in love. His deep blue eyes and wacky, wild hair define hot. Slightly less hot is his Monopoly obsession, but we'll work on that.
They Don't Call Him "The King" For Nothing: "When I was a kid. I got Elvis' songbook," says Tyler. "I noticed most of the chords in the songs were the three that I knew. If there was one I didn't know, I looked it up. So in a way, Elvis was my guitar teacher."
Why You Should Have Taken Drama: While you're scoping out guys at the school dance in the gym, the real cuties might be in the auditorium. "It's funny, in high school I didn't go to the parties at all, but neither did my friends. We were all into theater. It was good that I grew up in such a boring town and that I didn't party that much because I ended up practicing a lot."
He's Not Singing About That Kind of Love: "I love my family, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't sit down and write about it," says Tyler who usually writes about relationships he has had with real girls. "I love my sister, we are really close, but it's not the kind of thing where I sit down and say, 'I love her so much here is a song for her.' I write about girl love, not family love."
A Reason to Hate Jennifer Love Hewitt: Rumor has it that Tyler's dating her. When asked, he said, "Oh, hell." Followed by, "No comment." Sounds like a yes to us.
Are You Related To Paris? "I hear that so much that a friend actually made me a T-shirt that says, 'I am not related.'"
It's All About the Hoopty:> Don't expect to see Tyler driving around in a big shiny SUV. "I don't necessarily like guys that ride around in hummers. My car has got a bench seat, so a girl can sit in the middle while I'm driving. My ideal night would be to pick up a girl in my hoopty with my bench seat and go to a diner for coffee." Sounds good to us.
