// INTERVIEW

For 20-year old Tyler Hilton of Palm Springs, California, 2004 has been an epic year. The singer/songwriter's self-titled album is just out on Maverick Records, but that's only the beginning. Tyler also happens to be co-starring as Elvis in the much-anticipated Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line with box office heavyweights Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. He's also guest-starring on at least three episodes of one of our favorite guilty pleasures, the WB's One Tree Hill.

We got the awesome opportunity to interview Tyler and found out that he's just as sweet as he looks (and he bears a striking resemblance to The King).

FC: WHAT INSPIRES YOUR LYRICS?
Tyler: A situation or person that gets my heart pumping or gets me anxious. Traveling, falling in love, or even if I'm late for something.

FC: Wow, we were so excited to hear that you're going to play Elvis in Walk the Line. That's fantastic! What an awesome role. HOW DID YOU GET IT?
Tyler: I acted in high school and I studied to go on the stage. I've been a fan of Elvis since I was a kid so it's a dream to play him. I did a lot of research, reading books and listening to tapes and interviews. As part of the audition I had to play a Johnny Cash song.

FC: WHAT MUSIC ARE YOU INTO RIGHT NOW?
Tyler: The Million Dollar Quartet Session, gospel music, and the new Hanson album-I'm touring with them.

FC: READING ANY GOOD BOOKS WHILE YOU'RE ON TOUR?
Tyler: The Kid Stays in the Picture by Robert Evans and Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.
