// INTERVIEW
What are the best and worst things about being famous?
I think the best part is you get to do a lot of cool things. I think one of the cool things is just going out to clubs with your friends and you get like VIP rooms and stuff and that's pretty fun. The worst thing is probably when you go out in public and you see all these people looking at you and that's kind of crazy.
What is the coolest thing the Tyler Trackers have done for you?
I got a really cool ring actually from one of the girls in the audience; it says "Tyler" on it. But um they do a lot of promoting of my shows and they bring me gifts which is really cool. They come to like all of my shows from everywhere which is really cool.
How has the reaction of your fans changed over time?
As we started traveling and after One Tree Hill a lot changed. People are even more excited about the show and people know the words to songs which is really cool.
Are the fans different on the east coast compared to the west coast?
I think fans on the east coast go to more concerts which is pretty cool and I think the west coast fans don't as much. But the west coast fans are very crazy at concerts .
Would you rather play stadium shows or smaller, club shows?
If I had a choice I would play clubs or smaller shows and play them acoustic.
What band or artist would you like to see perform that you haven't already seen?
Weezer, I would love to see them. They're so amazing.
What is your favorite album and movie of all time?
The one movie that first comes to mind if Vanilla Sky, I really like that one. I have this cd called "Elvis's Great Performances" and it starts off with a couple of my favorite songs. It's really cool because it's such a great compilation of his songs.
I saw the video for "That's How Love Should Be" and it's great. Do you think you'd ever be interested in producing or filming bigger projects later in life?
I don't know about producing because I always end up stepping in front of the camera; I'm kind of an attention whore haha I wanted the video to look kind of like a home video. It was just a thing we did at a friend's apartment. I don't know how it turned out though.
Where did you think up the idea for Tyler TV?
Well my family does a lot of little film things and skits so we brought a camera out on the road once and started filming stuff. Then we were like 'hey I bet kids want to see this stuff' so we put it up on the site. We film like a whole tape and then send them to the girl who does my site so a lot are old right now until I do some more.
Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians?
Yeah, practice a lot. I think a lot of people really forget to practice and get experienced by doing shows. A lot of people are just so excited to get a cd out there right off the bat and find a manager ; they try doing the big stuff before finishing the little stuff. I have a couple friends who were like "I want to be in a band. Let's think of a name..." and I'm like "you guys should maybe practice some songs first" haha.
Do you have a message for the fans and trackers out there?
Yeah! I'm hoping that the trackers really come out to some shows this summer because it's my first headlining tour. I'm looking for the trackers to kind of help out the other fans. You know teach them to clap along, stay on beat when you clap, cheer, sing along haha Teach them all the good things to do at shows.
A BIG thanks of course goes to Tyler for doing this interview. Thank you Christine for setting it up and thank you Bob Hilton for pulling it together! =]
