May 2 2007 - Chat Transcript - TeenHollywood.com

Hey! I don't know who's here but I'm here and I'm open and ready to talk! Thanks for hanging out

gradu8 asks : How has One Tree Hill influence your career as a musician?
It has done so in a small way. It hasn't influenced me as a musician a ton, but more influenced me as an actor. As a musician though, I've got turned on to some of the other great artists that are on the soundtrack, and I got to play some cool shows that are tied into the show.

TylerHKC asks : Hey Tyler, I'm a big fan. Just wondering how the new CD is coming and if you plan to tour soon? Thanks!
I'll go out on tour as soon as the album is done. I'm hoping the album will be done by the fall. As far as when it comes out, I am hoping for the beginning of next year.

gradu8 asks What spoilers can you give us for the episode you will be in next week?
I think a lot of people know about the One Tree Hill episode already because there were a lot of fans on set. I will say that I have the coolest outfit that has ever been on the history of One Tree Hill

ginaz asks what do you look for in a girl?
Whoa....You could say all those things like interesting conversation, good looks, good personality... but I mean, there are a lot of friends of mine who are girls who have that. But what I look for is that unexplainable spark. It is attached to whoever you are attracted to for whatever reason.

babbypimp asks is grils alwasy throwing them shelf at you
Haha, no. I mean, sometimes they are at concerts. But I'm not thinking "man, I'm the coolest dude ever". They're all caught up in the moment. There are enough to feel really lucky!

SororityGirl1530 asks Where do you get the inspirations to write your songs?
Life, different things that happen in life. You know, its like saying 'where do you get inspirations for your dreams?'. Different things influence them. You can never point out exactly what they are. When it is time to open up and a song comes out, it is only later you can look back and see where it came from.

halloweenfan2001 asks What do you perfer doing the most: singing or acting?
Singing, because I've been doing it longer. I feel more comfortable with it. I feel like it is a lot more personal, more expressive. I really enjoy it.
But you know, acting is a ton of fun too.

Lillypad309 asks What was your inspiration for your new song "You'll ask for me"?
I was kind of being jerked around by this girl, was trying to explain all the mixed messages.... and then finally getting up and being like 'one way, if you want me, you'll wake up and you'll ask for me. Until then, I can't sort through all these signs.'

caitlinfodor525 asks Tyler, I was at the Bitter End show on Monday and I was just wondering at what ages did you begin playing the piano and guitar. Also, do you remember the first song you ever wrote?
I started playing both around seventh grade.. sixth or seventh grade.
The first song I wrote was when I was in eigth grade, with a friend, about a girl he had a crush on. It didn't seem monumental at the time, but looking back now that was the first song. It just seemed so natural to do at the time.

Edwing2006 asks who are ur role models?
Well...I like Huckleberry Finn because he had a cool life. I have posters all over. I wish I was James Dean..

gradu8 asks How did you first begin your career?
I guess it went from hobby to career when I got asked to do a show at this coffee house that I'd been doing open mic at. They paid me a little bit of money and I made tips. That was the first time I made money doing it, in 1999. From there I just did more and more shows at this coffee house and moved on to other places. I guess, that was the only job I had from then on. I never went on andhad another job after that. I was living at home, I didn't have to pay rent or anything. I had time to get my career going before I had to pay rent for myself.

myffieberry asks Where do you most want to holiday/vacation in world and why?
Mmm.. wow these are just questions that aren't on my mind every day! Wow.
I'd really like to go back to Spain. I really like the pace when I visited there awhile ago. I think it'd be a fun place to relax, siesta, drink wine.

ginaz asks if you met elvis, what would be one question you would ask him?
Depending on how old he was..... if he was still alive now, I'd ask him what he would have done differently if he could have, and if it was all worth it.

halloweenfan2001 asks Has fame ever gotten to you or do you see yourself as a normal person?
Yeah, because, you know, I'm not doing like Tyler Hilton live chats every hour of the day. I'm not on stage in front of screaming fans every day. Where I am, a much bigger percentage of my day is spent not being recognized.. doing laundry and eating breakfast and... you know, not having to dodge fans. Michael Jackson and those guys are at the other end of the spectrum. There are tons of guys in between. I don't think I've done enough things to have such a broad appeal that people mob me.Most of my day is spent just doing normal things. It is very novel doing live chats.

Tylerfan asks How is your next album going to be different from your first ?-Katarina
Well the songwriting that has happened since the last album has just, on its own, become a little bit more Americana sounding. A lot of the songs were Americana songs too but we've produced them in a way to put out an american sounding pop record... in this album I really wanted to go back to where my very first album was, and make it more of a rootsy sounding record.
This producer I ended up liking, happened to live in Nashville. I'm recording in Nashville and by virtue of being down that way it is going to sound a little different. This producer is great, he didn't produce my last record so it'll sound new and different.
I'm 23 now and I was 18 when I recorded my last one. Normal things that change... in your mindset between those ages - you'll notice it in the sound of the record and the lyrics.

amberken asks Who do you want to work with in the future?
I'd like to work with some other artists in some things .. collaborations. On their record or on mine. There are a few artists I want to keep my eye on and see what happens in their career. Jack White, I like and really respect. I think Gavin Degraw is really good. John Mayer. These are all people that sound really different or really good to me, you know.
So these are different people that I would love at some point to collaborate with and see what happens. I feel like I have a lot to learn from them and I consider them all better than me in lots of ways.
There are parts of them that I wish I had.

Edwing2006 asks where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
I see myself probably three more records in, hopefully you know, a couple more movies under my belt that are really cool and must owns.... and I would like to be a bit further along. I would like my art and my craft to be a bit further along. Better guitar player, better singer. There are tons of books and poetry that I'd like to get to in the next 5 years.
love to find a city that I can stay in one spot because I keep moving around so much.

LiveLoveRock asks Whats your weirdest fan encounter?
I don't know.. there are different ones that surprise me every day. Five days ago I was at the empire state building in New York. I was up there and the guy like taking my tickets to go to the top, this real urban dude with blaring rap on his headphones while he's taking tickets.. He was like "Yo! Yo man! You tha guy with that song! You Tyler Hilton!". I was like wow, how does this guy know who I am? When something random like that happens, I'm pretty thrilled.

ginaz asks what is one question that no one has asked you, but you want to answer?
One question......wow!Oh, do I like free clothes and should be people send me t-shirts size M and jeans size 32-24 and the answer is yes, I appreciate them!!! hahaha. I hate clothes shopping. The only time I end up getting clothes is if they're free because I never go shopping.. after this I have to do some shopping and I'm hanging out with friends in NYC and I have to go get some good clothes..
The less shopping the better!
I'm sure there is something deeper but I just can't think of it right now

sethmer asks Is there already a Tittle for your third album? Thanks!!
No, there isn't. I've played around with so many titles. It is so far off that I won't even name them yet. We'll see if something comes between now and then. You usually see what you've got and then decide what to name the collection.
To name something before it is done doesn't make any sense. You don't know what it is, so you can't name it. I keep telling myself that to make myself feel better... I'll name it when it is done!

MRS_TYLERHILTON asks Who do you hang out with most on the set of One Tree Hill?
Probably Chad Michael Murray and Lee Norris. Those are the two I hang out with the most.

sethmer asks What would you have been if you weren't an artist?
I guess a teacher. I think they're very important. My mom's side of the family are all teachers. I feel like I'm cheating the question since I can still perform a bit of I'm a teacher.

MiahxIsxLove asks What is the best part about being famous & what is the worst?
I guess the best part of it.... again I don't really think very often about the fact that I'm famous... because it is all relative -- most people don't know who I am. .
I guess, you feel real cool about yourself, all of a sudden you feel validated. When you're by yourself and someone recognizes you, you're like "wow, someone knows who I am".
The worst part is also that coolness you feel for a second when someone comes up to you turns real quick into being self concious - you're like OMG everyone in here knows who I am. I can't pick my nose or anything. You know? Haha. But that is just me being insecure or whatever.

SherryLovesYou101 asks What do you like to do when you are not working?
Just have time to hang out with family. It is such a job being an artist, it is kind of 24 hours. It is not a 9-5 job so whenever you get time in between things, you want to catch up with people you haven't called back in awhile, see if you can hang out, go for dinner, get some drinks, go hang out you know. I really like watching movies... and I like playing guitar a lot too. I like singing and writing songs.

x_Becca_x asks What would be your dream venue for a show?
Uhh.......I would love to do a solo acoustic show at Carnegie Hall. I did one show for a book charity that I was involved in. It was such a cool thing to be out there all alone and play guitar on this huge stage. Play to a quiet audience that I can sing my songs to.

ilovetylerhilton asks do you want to get married, settle down, and have kids anytime soon? I LOVE YOU!!!!!
Hah. No, not anytime soon for sure. It seems like something I want to do. It is one of those things that most people eventually do. I haven't really thought about it. I guess that is the next step. Yeah. It hasn't disappeared from my like "where will you be in 20 years answer".

iluvmusicalgeeks asks Hey Tyler, I saw you on Monday, I was the one who gave you the cupcakes. Can you tell us a little about your character in Charlie Bartlett
Well Murphey Bivens is kind of a lonely, mean high school kid who just takes out a lot of his aggression on other kids and he gets a lot of his confience from that (and selling drugs). So that is kind of where he's coming from. He is an angry kid.

ndercyn asks What is your Favorite Sport? Do you concider yourself good at it?
I guess basketball. Or Tennis maybe. And no, I'm not good at it.

JennD3698 asks Are you planning on working on any more movies? or are you going to focus on just your musical career?
You know it is not even something I really plan out. Acting is a hobby and I'm always reading scripts, always auditioning. What is going on in the acting world, I like to keep in my peripheral but what I do for a living is I play music. It is sort of my emotional compass point. That is what I'm supposed to be doing. I really want to put a record out and I know it is time. That is what I'm working on. A lot of things change when I read a script I really like, like Walk The Line or Charlie Bartlett or even when I first went on One Tree Hill. I read the script and I'm like "Hey I want to do this". I find a way to do it. In the eight years or so I've been doing music, those are the only three acting things I've done. But as more comes along, I'm always playing and writing of course. So I guess I will be focusing on my music as always until that next great acting project comes along that time needs to be made for.

Thank you very much everybody for hanging out. I've got videos of myself recording the record on my MySpace so keep checking back there to see how the record is going and see how the songs are turning out. I'll see everyone really soon in tour!!
